John Buckley
Bass Guitar
John Buckley is a musician, songwriter and composer based in Devon, England. He began his musical career as a classically trained pianist and took up the guitar at the age of 18.
John's been playing the bass since 1994, and has performed with many acts. Most notably, he spent 16 years as bassist for Limited Ability Partnership (LAP), playing venues such as The Half Moon (Putney), Koko (Camden Town), and a superyacht in Cannes for the MIPIM property conference;
Whilst with LAP he co-wrote Holly Follows, a song about cyberbullying where the protagonist is induced by social media followers to take their own life.

John has also co-written songs for the genre-defying band Run the Enemy, and plays piano, bass and keyboards on two of the band's albums, Trail of Tears and Portals.
The band’s music is best described as a fusion between British Indie and Americana with thoughtful and sometimes provocative lyrics exploring prejudice, morality, mortality, class and social mobility, corruption, fallibility, and vengeance.

John has been married for 27 years and has three (nearly) grown up children. He and his wife, Kate, saw Danny McAvoy's Little Ships in June 2023 and noted the quality of the musical and the accessibility of the songs. John is looking forward to working with Danny and the team to bring Eddie & Jenny to life on stage, as part of the live band at Exeter Phoenix.
